Commissioning in urology is faced by major problems from two directions. :-
Centrally, the need is to hit the referral to treatment time (RTT) target and Shifting Care Closer to Home (SCC2H) against limited and declining resources.
Locally, an ageing male population, unmet needs (eg impotence) and rising expectations are increasing referrals by 8% pa.
We believe Anglian Urology has unrivalled experience in the UK that is uniquely suited to improving the quality of patient care while solving current commissioning problems in urology.
The portability of state of the art urological equipment and new urology training methods have created a unique opportunity to implement an exciting, new whole service framework for cross-boundary, seamless, patient centred care based on a Primary Care Specialist Urology model. This model enables PCTs to meet the demands of the SCC2H initiative, and meet their RTT targets while reducing delivery costs by some 25%.
Anglian Urology comprises consultants, specialist nurses, GP commissioners and nationally recognised patient representatives, backed by experienced management.
We have had over ten years’ experience developing modern urology services through participation and leadership in all stages of NHS service re-design programmes, most recently Action on Urology and SCC2H. We continue to work with the DoH on the SCC2H and Informed Decision Making programmes in support of World Class Commissioning. In addition we provide specialist advice to PCTs, SHAs and major UK private healthcare providers.
